Dr. Friedman (O.D)

About:
In 1983, Dr. Friedman began working in private practice to further develop his clinical skills in a more intimate setting. Eight years later, in 1991, ‘The Eye Care Group & Associates” opened its doors on Sunset Drive as his first private practice, formerly known as ‘Dr. Friedman O.D.P.A.’ Throughout the years, Dr. Friedman has seen patients of all ages and developed a strong following from pre-school to young adulthood. In addition to treating vision disorders and ocular pathology, Dr. Friedman has created a niche in treating various ‘functional’ vision disorders, such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), as well as lazy eye and headaches.
Dr. Friedman has not forgotten his northern roots. He actively engages with sports he grew up loving, such as being a hockey head coach for many seasons in Youth Hockey Leagues. Moreover, health is a priority in and out of the office. For instance, Dr. Friedman enjoys playing tennis and golf, long bike rides, and running to maintain top physical shape.
With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Friedman prides himself on giving every patient quality care and personalized service. He welcomes his new patients with the same enthusiasm as his returning patients as he loves to see the clinic’s family grow. Dr. Friedman is proud to be part of the South Miami community for nearly 4 decades and can communicate in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Torres (O.D)

About:
Dr. Torres was born in Granada, Nicaragua, and migrated to the United States at a young age to pursue a better future. He was always involved in his community, like working as a Martial Arts professor for several years to teach kids self-defense. After graduating from High School, in 1994, Dr. Torres joined the U.S Army National Guard; he served as an infantry soldier until 2001 while simultaneously attending his undergraduate studies. During his time at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Torres was involved in multiple aspects of campus life, such as being a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. As a Nova alumnus, Dr. Torres helped found the Beta Chapters at Florida International University and the University of Miami.
Dr. Torres’ passion for helping others translated to being an optometrist as his professional career. During his optometric training, he was an Assistant Clinical researcher for the Vistakon testing clinic. Moreover, he completed his clinical and medical ophthalmic rotations with physicians in Puerto Rico. The former with an emphasis on contact lenses and post-refractive surgery complications; the latter with an emphasis on neurophthalmology and legal issues. After receiving his Doctor of Optometry, Dr. Torres further specialized by completing a Fellowship training in ocular disease.
Since 2006, Dr. Torres has been a practicing Optometric Physician. He has worked in diverse environments ranging from owning private practices to serving as an Optometric Physician in the U.S. Army, achieving the ranking of Captain. Since then, Dr. Torres has joined local and national Optometric Associations to further connect with his community. In 2009, Dr. Torres received the title of Associate Professor at Miami-Dade College Medical Campus. Dr. Torres’ extensive training has led to compassionate and professional services with all his patients.
Debbie DeSario (L.D.O)

About:
Mrs. DeSario has extensive training in all aspects of Opticianry. Throughout her time in the eye care industry, she gained experience in both chain and private optometric practices. Mrs. DeSario’s expertise includes complex problem solving, office management, and sales. Moreover, she guarantees 100% satisfaction due to her keen eye for tailoring frames to match her customers perfectly. As a loyal member of ‘The Eye Care Group and Associates’ since 2007, Mrs. DeSario prides herself in consistently providing the highest quality patient care with an emphasis on personalized service. Outside of the office, she is an International Licensed UCI Cycling Official and loves to stay active.
